In this trip, you will deep into the Mayan culture hiking 100 km on the ancient trails that have been used since the ancient Mayan civilization settles in the area. At the end of the hike, you will be bespoke in the beautiful Mérida city.
7 Day Expedition
The hike is an easy trail that can provide you a good training insight for Patagonia or the Himalayas. The communities develop a regional cooperative for nature and heritage conservation that facilitate the trail infrastructure, sharing with hikers and bicycle riders their services and land at the same time they preserve their ancient traditions and lifestyle. The rich culture, history, and nature of the unique Yucatan Peninsula geography are the most to visit. This part of the world hosts the Mayan civilization since 2,000 b.c. and are several hidden archeological sites under the tropical forest. The underground river system that runs through the limestone is the main freshwater source of the whole peninsula, in some parts where the roof collapse allows to refresh in the crystal-clear waters.
Merida the white city is the vibrant capital of Yucatán state has a rich Mayan and colonial heritage. The city’s landmarks to visit are Plaza de la Independencia, the Cathedral, and the limestone Iglesia de la Tercera Orden, both using relics from the ancient Mayan temples. The Casa de Montejo a 16 the-century mansion.

6 AM light breakfast and transfer to the starting point Dzoyaxché village, where we will visit the community attractions, the Hacienda, the Chapel. The trail guides us through the tropical forest to Cuxtal Nature Reserve to Yaxnic & Petac Haciendas. Lunch at Tzacalá community where we visit some archeological Mayan ruins. Hike to Peba to visit the cenote sinkhole call Sambula where we will refresh and have dinner and spend the night at their campground after a magical campfire time.

RUTE: Dzoyaxché – Pebá

6:30 AM early light breakfast.
7:30 AM on the way to San Antonio Mulix we will stop at Yaxcopoil Hacienda where we visit the museum from the XVII century and a Cacao Hacienda and the community that relies on its production, where we’ll have lunch. When arriving in San Antonio Mulix, we will visit 2 cenotes known as the most beautiful ones in the whole state. We will have dinner and stay at the community eco-village cabins, Xuux Ek.

RUTE: Peba – San Antonio Mulix

6:30 AM early light breakfast
7:30 AM travel to Yunkú, along the way we’ll stop at Hacienda Ochil for a recovery time, then hike to the cenote Kankirixché to refresh and have lunch in the community. Afterward, hike to the cenote cave sanctuary Yunkú. Then, hike to the Hacienda to have a nice rest of the evening in their luxury eco-chic rooms, pool, cenote, and hammocks.

RUTE: San Antonio Mulix – Yunkú

7:30 AM Hike to Lepan, along the way we will visit the Mucuyche community where we refresh in their cenote and have a typical Yucatecan snack, after lunch, we keep our journey towards Uyalaceh, on the road we will explore some archeological site that is hidden in the road and another beautiful cenote. Once arriving at the community of Uayalceh we’ll have lunch with a Mayan family, visit the Hacienda and before dusk, we will hike to Lepan where we will visit a cenote cavern, have dinner, and camp at the community campground

6:30 AM early light breakfast
7:30 AM hike toward Mayapan. Along the way, we will visit Xcanchakan Hacienda where we’ll have lunch and rest. After this, we’ll keep the hike to Mayapan archeological site to celebrate in a symbolic ceremony the completion of the Mayan trail.
After the guided tour in Mayapan, we will take our transfer to Mérida city where we will spend the night at a nice hotel boutique.
