In this expedition, your spirit will go beyond this world guided by the Mexican tradition of the “Dia de Muertos”
This is a 12-day sea - to - the - mountains journey, with a 3-night stop on the Mexican Caribbean to bask in the salt, cenotes and archeological sites in the tropical forests. Next travel to Cristobal de las Casas City in the heart of the Sierra Madre highlands, in Chiapas state where you’ll explore the “Sumidero Canyon”, among other meaningful experiences in this journey.
While having a people-to-people exchange, we visit a local Maya family in Zinacantan, the flower town, enjoy a world-class coffee tasting at a family-owned coffee house (cafeteria), and learn about the unique pottery art in Amatenango del Valle in a clay workshop with a local women’s cooperative. Along the way, we enjoy the pristine landscape of mountains, rivers, reserves, and forests that are home to both wildlife and the conservation efforts to protect them!
This trip is designed to share an eco-cultural experience and also with some free days to have your own time to enjoy at your own peace.

Travel day from your city to Akumal in the Mexican Caribbean. Settle in an amazing Glamping hotel in the middle of the tropical forest,
7:00 pm dinner together (dinner included) sweet dreams with the sounds of nature.
6:30 am – 8:30 am: Wake up with the fresh smell of the tropical forest and a delicious home-made breakfast.
12 pm – 4 pm: Prepare to enjoy the Biosphere Reserve of Sian Ka’an that is part of the UNESCO Heritage, prepare to travel back on time visiting the archeological site of Muyil, touch the sky meanwhile floating in the turquoise lazy river and enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic. (lunch included)
4: 30 pm – 8:00 pm: Explore the Magic town of Tulum downtown (dinner not include)
6:15 am – 11: 30 am: Receive the sunrise in the archeological site of Tulum, afterward refresh yourself in the ancient sacred waters of the Cenotes and enjoy if you like, a little bit of adrenaline in the Ziplines, mountain bike, and snorkel. Enjoy the Mayan blessing that an Ah-Men from the community will give to the group and the local food prepared in the traditional kitchen. (lunch included)
12:00 pm: Enjoy the free time for the rest of the day in the Glamping hotel where may you would like to enjoy a good reading in the hamac or explore the natural reserve that the hotel cares about. Remember preparing your stuff for the trip the next day
7:00 pm: Dinner together (dinner included)
Breakfast (possible box lunch) transfer from Akumal to Cancun airport.
Arrive at Tuxtla Gutierrez airport where our private transportation will be waiting for us to bring us to the Cañon del Sumidero boat tour (1 hr and 30 min). After the boat ride will have a traditional chiapanecan meal in the Chiapa de Corzo city, (lunch included) later on the transfer will bring us up to the mountain (45 min ride) to drop off us in the hotel in San Cristobal de las Casas. That night you’ll have time to explore the Magic Town nightlife (not dinner included)
6:30 am – 8:30 am: Breakfast, and get ready to enjoy the city tour from 9 to 10:30 am and visit downtown, afterward you’ll have free time to walk around.
4:00 pm: meet at the hotel to prepare Dia de Muertos celebration according to the local traditions, we will set an ofrenda our loved ones that pass away and share the Pan de Muertos and dinner with local families (dinner included)
6:30 am – 8:30 am: Breakfast, prepare for the Traditions Tour.
10 am – 2 pm: in the Traditions Tour, we will visit the Mayan communities of San Juan Chamula where we will visit their church which will be in worship for the Dia de Muertos and afterward visit Zinacantan community “the flower town” where we will visit their local church and a local family (box lunch included).
2:45 pm – 7:00 pm: enjoy the evening exploring San Cristobal de las Casas.
7:00 pm: Dinner together in one of the local restaurants downtown.
6:30 am – 8:30 am: Breakfast, prepare for the Nature Reserve Tour.
9 am – 11 am: Get amazed by the forest of the Sierra Madre in Moxviquil Reserve, where experts will share with us the gifts of nature and explain how the reserve works. 11 am to 12 pm transfer to the next location, (box lunch included).
12:00 pm – 3:00 pm The Arcotete reserve amazing rock formations and the Canopy will be waiting for us! Enjoy a local snack from the local people that live in the reserve.
4:00 pm – rest of the evening free to keep exploring the magic of San Cristobal downtown. (Dinner not included)
6:30 am – 8:30 am: Breakfast, prepare for the Clay and Gourmet Tour.
9 am – 3 pm: in the community of Amatenango del Valle we will visit a woman cooperative to have a clay workshop, this area soil is very special to prepare pottery, and people from all over the world came to enjoy this unique clay. Once we finish the visit there, we will enjoy the warmth of a local family in Teopisca town that will be waiting for us to share a delicious lunch and coffee (lunch included)
4:pm – 7:00 pm: free time.
At 7:00 pm we will meet in a local restaurant downtown to enjoy dinner together (dinner included)
6:30 am – 8:30 am: Breakfast, prepare for the San Cristobal de las Casas community experience.
9:00 am to 11:00 am: You’ll be able to pick a workshop between coffee Culture and Tasting class or a Chess and Tea class. After these workshops, a 1-hour city tour to the local market will be lead to latter on enjoying and explore on your own. (lunch not included)
6:30 am – 8:30 am Breakfast.
This day is totally free to do your shopping after you are an expert about all the local shops and handicraft art from the area. Remember to pack and organize your stuff for the trip the next day.
7:00 pm: Dinner together in a local restaurant downtown (dinner included)
Breakfast *possible breakfast to go in a box on the transfer from San Cristobal de las Casas to the airport in Tuxtla Gutierrez. The itinerary of this day will be defined by the flight schedule and the arrival time at Cancun airport. Transfer from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen hotel.
That night we will have a cooking class ideally starting at 6 pm.
Breakfast *possible lunch box on the way to the airport.
Transfer from Playa del Carmen to Cancun airport.
Back home.
